The White Lady
Meridian Theatre Company presents:
The White Lady by Johnny Hanrahan.
A play in cabaret clothing.
March 23rd - April 1st 2006, preview March 22nd.
A ghost bride falling like a wounded bird to her death on the rocks below Charles Fort. An electric giant asleep in the Lee Valley, whose sparkling head, arms and legs make up the night city of Cork. A flying cathedral which pulses with light like a medieval spaceship or a 3D holy picture.
This is the dream world of Trampas Daly, "small-time drug dealer on the verge of a nervous breakdown." Trampas is on the track of the ultimate deal which will free him of his hometown and buy him heaven on earth. But heaven on earth carries a killing price and as Trampas tries to make his dreams come true, the truth invades his dreams to disastrous effect.
The White Lady is a play in cabaret clothing. A heady mix of gymnastics, weightlifting, a greasy live trio and flying buildings combine with storytelling, poetic monologue, a Greek chorus with a Cork accent and a sequence of dream scenes to turn Triskel into a chamber of visions cum horrors in this What's The Story? based sequel to Meridian's hugely successful Crystal.
